Our Story

In July 1986, after returning from a Kenneth Hagin Camp meeting in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the Spirit of the Lord spoke to Wilson D. Douglas. During a time of meditation, these words came to him: "Agape Christian Center - League City, Texas - Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday." Upon hearing these words, he spent the next twenty-four hours pondering and confirming what he had heard before finally accepting the call to establish the ministry.

Knowing only two families in League City, he secured their assistance in locating a place to have the Sunday and Tuesday services.  On September 14, 1986, the first Sunday service was held at James Ross Elementary School in League City. The Tuesday Night Bible Study (as it would be called for the next several years) was held at the Countryside Civic Club meeting room. For the next eight months, these were the accommodations for Agape Christian Center.  The first service began with forty-four people present and the church began to grow. With many confirmations, God validated the call He had placed on the life of Wilson D. Douglas, III.

Pastor Douglas began to teach the principles of faith and lay a foundation of expectancy that gave people hope and victory in a difficult world. As God’s people grew in faith, the congregation began to believe for a more permanent location for all services.  In May 1987, through a miracle of God; the ministry moved into the first two suites of a building located at 200 Parker Court.  Over the next several years, the church leased three additional suites in the same complex to accommodate the growth of the ministry.  In July 1990, a purchase was made for twenty acres of prime land in League City. The debt on the land was soon “paid in full” because of the faithful and continuous sowing of the members of Agape Christian Center. Praise God!

In May 1991, God spoke prophetically to Pastor Douglas concerning starting a television program as well as writing books.  During a trip to the Bahamas in August 1991, a divine appointment was made between Pastor Douglas and a publisher from the states. As a result of that God-ordained meeting, Wilson Douglas had two books published: Wealth God's Way and Unity From A Black Perspective. In September 1991, God miraculously enabled the ministry to buy television studio equipment for only $20,000. This purchase launched our national television ministry that was seen both locally and nationally. The following sources of media: books, audio tapes and the television ministry were a blessing to many as Pastor Douglas continued to teach the principles of relentless faith in God and victorious living.

In November 1998, God spoke to Pastor Douglas yet again and told him it was time to build.  A momentous occasion transpired on his birthday, June 27, 1999; a groundbreaking was held for "Victory Manor", a one thousand-seat sanctuary with educational facilities.

After fourteen years of ministry, on the fourteenth day of September 2000, another word came from God to Pastor Douglas about changing the name of the ministry from Agape Christian Center to Victorious Living Christian Center.  In obedience to God and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the name was officially changed.

In December, plans were implemented to open a bookstore, "Victory Manna".  Those plans were realized on New Year’s Day, 2001.

On September 30, 2002, 215 Newport became the new home of Victorious Living Christian Center. This facility would house the ministry for the next three and a half years.  During this time, drawings were developed for building a temporary sanctuary that would eventually be converted into our youth facility.  In December 2003, permission was granted to begin clearing the property for construction.  Nineteen months later, on June 14, 2005, the first Tuesday night service was held in our new sanctuary located at 639 Smith Lane in League City, Texas.  On the nineteenth day of June (Father’s Day), after nineteen years of ministry and nineteen months of construction, we conducted our first Sunday morning service. Glory to God!

As founder and visionary of Victorious Living Christian Center (formerly Agape Christian Center), Pastor Wilson David Douglas, III faithfully built a solid Word foundation in the people of God for the next thirty-two years.  He modeled the messages taught on developing a genuine love-relationship with God, knowing the person of the Holy Spirit, living victoriously and developing relentless faith.  His life was a living example of our mission statement: “Developing Victorious and Successful Servants through the Application of Biblical Principles, Thereby Attaining and Sustaining Divine Life.” Pastor Douglas firmly believed that through the proclamation of the Gospel, mature sons and daughters of God would be birthed and given developmental tools necessary for Kingdom assignments. This could only be possible with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

After 32 years of dedicated and faithful service to Victorious Living Christian Center (formerly Agape Christian Center), Pastor Wilson David Douglas, III: founder, visionary, man of faith and power, husband, father, brother and friend made his transition into the presence of the Lord on November 19, 2018 while in the comfort of his home. His devoted and loving wife and adoring daughter were at his side during his transition.

Elizabeth Ann Douglas took the helm as pastor of Victorious Living Christian Center; faithfully supported by her daughter, Ashley Nicole and a team of loyal and committed believers.  Pastor Elizabeth A. Douglas is determined to honor the legacy of her husband by continuing the anointed teaching of the Word and by equipping God’s people to do His works of service, so as to win souls for the Kingdom and build up the body of Christ.  Victorious Living Christian Center will also continue its outreach ministry to those in prisons, jails, youth detention centers, hospitals, nursing homes, shelters and those in need of food assistance.

Our history is still being written and our vision refined. We have confidence in our God and in our leader, Pastor Elizabeth A. Douglas. We are MOVING FORWARD and building on the foundation laid for Victorious Living Christian Center by Wilson David Douglas, III.

We are assured THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
